Description
Shingrix is a vaccine used to prevent shingles (herpes zoster) in adults. It contains an antigen derived from the varicella-zoster virus combined with an adjuvant system to boost the immune response.
Target Diseases
- Shingles (Herpes Zoster) and associated complications such as postherpetic neuralgia (PHN).
Dosage Schedule
2 doses, administered intramuscularly. Second dose is given 2-6 months after the first dose.
Possible Side Effects
- Common: Pain
- redness
- and swelling at the injection site
- muscle pain
- fatigue
- headache
- fever
- gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea
- diarrhea). Rare: Allergic reactions (e.g.
- rash
- swelling of the face).
Contraindications
- Severe allergic reactions to any component of the vaccine. Currently having an active herpes zoster infection. Pregnancy or breastfeeding (consult a doctor before administration).

Storage Requirements
- Store in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C. Do not freeze. Protect from light.
