Description
Prevenar 13 is a vaccine designed to protect against 13 serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria, which cause invasive pneumococcal diseases such as pneumonia, meningitis, and sepsis. The vaccine works by helping the immune system recognize and fight the targeted bacterial strains.
Target Diseases
- Pneumonia Meningitis Sepsis (blood infections) Otitis Media (middle ear infections) Other invasive pneumococcal diseases caused by the 13 vaccine-covered serotypes.
Dosage Schedule
Infants (6 weeks to 6 months): Four doses at 2, 4, 6, and 12–15 months of age. Unvaccinated Children (7 months to 5 years): Schedule varies depending on age and medical history. Adults: A single dose is typically recommended for those at increased risk.

Contraindications
- Severe allergic reaction to a previous dose of Prevenar 13 or any vaccine component.
